Return to Innocence
Return to innocence. The return to Self. This is both the process and the outcome of meditation. That innocent Self, which both predates and is beyond the layers of embedded stresses, beliefs and emotional scars we begin to accumulate from birth, or even before. I see it in my students, my mother, my sisters, my friends - that innocence, the person they would always have been without the layers of dust that settled in over a lifetime of stress, limiting beliefs and scars that curbed their pure essence from shining forth unimpeded, naturally and spontaneously.
These layers fade and dissipate meditation by meditation in an ever deepening process, revealing more and more of that innocence, pure unbounded awareness, allowing the light that was always there to shine through. Until ultimately the bliss, that pure state of awareness is unbounded, flowing through each experience, be it chocolate and Netflix on the sofa, or gelato on the piazza. Every experience, and action, springs from and is infused with bliss. The basis of our being. Our simple, innocent, Self.
