5 Key Things to Know about Your Practice
Understanding our practice more deeply can help us to stay inspired and consistent. Here's a top 5 need to know:
1. Rest from Vedic Meditation is 2-5 x deeper than sleep: skip the sleep in/snoozing/get up before the kids to gain this deeper rest for a more energised, clear & calm day.
2. Meditation has been shown to increase your intelligence & memory: you'll have better ideas & improved recall with a regular meditation practice. On average we use 2% of our brain's capacity, this limitation is largely due to stress. Reduce stress and increase your mental capacity with meditation.
3. Each meditation is resetting your biochemistry from fight/flight to stay/play or bliss chemistry. In modern times innate, naturally derived bliss is a foreign concept, but this is our natural state. We're wired to have stress responses many times a day which is unnatural. Meditate to rewire your system and increasingly enjoy life more and more.
4. Meditation is like a washing machine cycle for your nervous system & mind. It can be busy sometimes, just like your washing machine cycle on spin. But the end result is a calmer, less fatigued nervous system & a clearer mind. The alternative is not to meditate and to allow stress to continue to accumulate.
5. The layers of awareness you experience in meditation are correlated both with the flow state and the source of your intuition. We need to de-excite the nervous system and take the mind to deeper, subtler layers to start to habituate our awareness to experience subtle impulses such as intuition and to the chemistry & origin of the flow state. Regular exposure to this increases access to both outside of meditation.
