The True Definition of Self-care
Soma - Flow of Conscious Attention
Soma is the name in Sanskrit for the conscious flow of attention. It has a nourishing quality to it, our attention is the most powerful gift we can give someone.
Why do we meditate?
The experience of our natural state of bliss, a deeply contented peace of mind, is something we all want to experience and we often make the mistake of searching for this outside of ourselves. Social conditioning will have you forever on the hunt for this outside of yourself, you're the hound chasing a carrot on a stick - you can never catch it.
The New Normal
Bliss - serene, inner contentedness, is actually our birthright. The state where our awareness is unbounded, where we identify more with our inner experience, the established experience of Being, pure consciousness, is, in the Vedic worldview, our "normal" state.
Your Primary Purpose
So often we get caught up in the doing of life, the achieving, the getting things done, or the just getting through life. Our mind is attuned to this is the way life is, and we become so busy, so engaged with this that we completely miss the point of the whole thing.
Refining our Intuition - Following Charm
So why is charm important, why do we want to follow charm? Charm bubbles up directly from Nature itself, from the unified field of infinite creative intelligence and possibilities.
The Importance of Correcting the Intellect
The intellect has collected many ideas through social conditioning and stress over our lifetime based on the fundamental mis-take of separation. Those negative thoughts that form the "tape" that plays in our head come from this fundamental mis-take of the intellect.
Refining our Intuition - Detecting Charm

The Nature of our Thoughts
It's worth remembering the simple truth: you are not your thoughts. Often we have been used to identifying ourselves with our thoughts - putting so much meaning into them, believing them as truth and engaging with them.
Refining our Intuition - True Charm
How do we know if it's true charm? If we are attached to the outcome of moving in that direction, then usually it is the mind seeking happiness outside of itself.
The Pursuit of Happiness
The pursuit of happiness, outside of one's own self, is never ending. The mind, before it begins to be retrained with meditation, is attuned to searching for happiness outside of itself - in experiences, achievements, pleasures, praise, validation.
Your Comfort Zone is not your Safety Zone
If we resist change, in the mistaken idea that clinging to the status quo will keep us safe, what we tend to find is that the change is coming anyway. However, if we can move with it progressively, it will be much smoother.
Adaptability & The Holiday Season
This coming season of holidays and time with family can be a wonderful time of shared experience, the annual family gathering, but those intimate family dynamics can also sometimes bring up challenges and really test our patience.
Abundance - Triggering Wealth Consciousness
Abundance is our natural state. It's as natural as breathing. We breathe in, we breathe out. We don't worry where the next breath is coming from, nor do we hold onto our breath for fear of a lack of air. Money, is energy, it's a form of exchange.
The Samskāras - Impressions - We Bear
These samkāras cloud our true essence. They cannot be released at the level of the mind, the level at which they were created. We need to go much deeper, beyond all samskāras, to the healing balm of the Self.
