Self love

Self love. This is bandied about a lot - often in terms of allowing ourselves permission to take a break, or have a massage, which we all deserve generally more often than we allow. But it goes a bit deeper than this. Love is patient, love is kind, love does not judge. Love is space, the very field of bliss which permeates the entire cosmos and we are one with it. We can move more effortlessly with the flow of life, with our deeper nature, when we apply those principles to ourselves. When we are patient with ourself as we slowly, incrementally experience change and let go of old patterns, habits and behaviours. We can let go of our judgements when we repeat the same old behaviours again instead of making a choice we know would serve us better. We can approach ourself with curiosity - why did I do/say/choose that? Curiosity has space, it is softer, gentler, kind. Judgement is harsh, rigid, constrained. We can be soft and gentle with ourselves while we are in the cocoon of transformation, liquefying the caterpillar so that it may emerge a butterfly. We can love the caterpillar and the butterfly. Love gives us the space to grow and is patient as we do so. Like a child taking its first steps we do not berate it every time it falls over, we love it no matter what it does and we also know that one day it will walk.
