The Contrast Event

Contrast Event - Today marks 6 years cancer free, colonoscopy confirmed. It was what I call a “contrast event” - a similar event occurs after some time which provides a contrast and an unequivocal indication of what’s changed in your awareness. Having woken after a colonoscopy 6 years ago to be told I had bowel cancer at 32, the same procedure today showed me how much expansion & change has occurred. I’m so grateful for, primarily, my state of consciousness (honed through harnessing life’s experience, years of twice daily Vedic meditation, absorbing supreme knowledge and an active commitment to and participation in my own expansion in life). It may seem strange to list this first and yet our state of consciousness is the basis of our entire experience of life. My ability to experience a series of what were in the past painful, uncomfortable and fear-inducing medical procedures in the state of witness, able to take in the entire experience, to detect and even enjoy subtle details, in a state of presence with minimal sensations of fear despite having such a deeply scored impression of this same experience in the past.

Every experience forms the fabric of your life, even those we preference less - we want to be present for all of it, the richness that brings. The ability to make conscious choices and experience a rush of creativity even while coming out of anaesthesia. How much more frictionless my experience is from moment to moment, even in hospital. To experience, regularly, that the flicker of desire in that established state of awareness is immediately fulfilled without the need to ask for anything, or voice it. It could sound strange, but feels sublime. I love a good contrast event - and I describe this for all those who are noticing similar shifts, a preview for those who are coming along with me.
